A relaxed electric spin through 2 000 years of Girona — Roman walls, the Jewish Quarter, the cathedral steps and the …
A hard e-bike tour through Fluvià river basin, 56 km with 2815 m of climbing, fully supported.

The Pont de Pedra in Girona is where the city’s stone arches meet the murmur of the Onyar, and it’s from here that the Medes Islands Viewpoint E-Bike Classic begins its long, looping climb away from the cathedral bells. The first kilometres ease you past plane trees and the quiet suburbs, but soon the road tips upward toward Coll de Revardit. On a conventional bike, this would be a test of will; on an e-bike, it becomes a conversation with the landscape. The motor hums softly, flattening the gradient into a steady, satisfying push, and as you crest the pass, the Fluvià river basin opens below—a patchwork of orchards, cork oaks, and stone villages that seems to exhale in the morning light.
This is a hard ride, not because the machine does all the work, but because the distance and the constant rolling terrain demand attention and rhythm. The 56 kilometres are deceptive: they feel shorter than they are, yet the 2,815 metres of accumulated climbing remind you that you’ve earned the views. The route is fully supported, so a van trails behind with water, tools, and a spare battery, but you’ll likely not need much beyond a pause to catch your breath at the top of a ramp. The surface is almost entirely tarmac and a paved greenway that runs alongside the river, wide and traffic-free, which means you can let your eyes wander to the herons standing motionless in the shallows without worrying about a car passing too close.
The descent toward Peratallada is a reward in itself. The road narrows between dry-stone walls, and the village appears suddenly—a medieval huddle of honey-coloured stone, its keep and ramparts rising from the flat farmland. You’ll roll through its cobbled lanes slowly, the e-bike’s tyres whispering over the old setts, before continuing toward the coast. The Medes Islands Viewpoint arrives without fanfare: a low bluff where the blue of the sea meets the grey-green of the archipelago’s seven islets. On a clear day, you can see the white wake of a fishing boat tracing a line toward the protected marine reserve, and the air carries the salt and the faint cry of gulls. It’s a moment to stop, unclip, and simply look.
The return leg is where the ride’s character shifts. You’ve done the climbing, and now the route rolls gently through farmland, past farmhouses with geraniums on their balconies and fields of sunflowers turning their heads to the afternoon sun. The final stretch brings you to Cafe del Pont, a low-slung bar beside an old stone bridge over the river, where the coffee is dark and the pastries are still warm from the morning oven. Sitting on the terrace, with the e-bike propped against the railing and the scent of espresso mixing with the river air, you understand the point of it all. This is not a ride about conquering; it’s about covering ground with grace, feeling the basin’s contours under your wheels, and arriving somewhere with a story to tell. For riders who are fit but not racing, who want the burn without the agony, this tour offers a hard day that feels like a gift.
